M & J | From Strangers to Soul-Friends \\ A Mount Spokane Picnic Engagement Session
M & J were one of the very first couples I ever photographed as official clients. Total strangers who trusted me with their story back in 2021, just as I was opening the doors to my business. But from the very first click of the shutter, it didn’t feel like we were strangers at all. We connected instantly, like old friends picking up where we left off.
So when they reached out again in 2023, this time for their engagement session and a fall elopement at Mount Rainier, I was completely over the moon. There is nothing more special than getting to grow alongside the people I photograph, and this was one of those full circle moments that reminded me exactly why I do what I do.
For their engagement session, we dreamed up something simple and meaningful. A cozy picnic at Mount Spokane. I’m always looking for ways to bring deeper storytelling into my sessions, but honestly, M & J brought all the magic themselves.
From the bottle of mead they brought from their favorite local spot, to their shared inside jokes, and even the ongoing evolution of J’s hair journey, every detail was uniquely theirs. It wasn’t about posing perfectly. It was about being present. And wow, do these two know how to fall into those soft, quiet moments together like it’s second nature.
There is a peaceful kind of love between them that you can feel just by being near it. The kind of love that melts your heart without needing to say a word. Being able to witness and document that is one of the deepest honors of my work.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reminisce on this dreamy session. Check out my portfolio to view more!
